Support Analysis Data Reference Step Functionality

Use case: User wants to trend Analysis Data Reference in client tools (Processbook, Coresight). User doesn’t want to create a PI tag for this output. Currently, the AnalysisDR ignores step, even if it’s input attributes are step.

I have a use case where I cannot use a PI Point as my analysis result because as time goes on, the result at any given time changes (specific use case is related to future data). Therefore I have to use the Analysis DR. But I would like the trend to be step.

(understanding potential performance issues applied to complex analysis) this functionality could reduce overall overhead for simple functions.

Using Attributes reduces the number of PI Tags, so this functionality is very needed.

As a workaround you can create an attribute with a formula reference that takes the Analysis Output Attribute as an input, simply outputs the value again, but is configured as stepped. Note that when trending an Analysis Data Reference, the Analysis is always treated as event-triggered.

Rollup calculations are incorrect as values are interpolated during backfill of historical data!!! Step option is critical.
