Running PI System within Docker

Run the PI Server within Docker (https://www.docker.com/) to get better economies of scale.  Might already be possible, but need advice supporting this architecture.

What does "get better economies of scale" mean in this context? Exactly what resource limitations are customers running into that Docker will solve?

Enconomies of scale...might apply to PI System data archive clusters, PI AF services (notifications and analytics) clustered. Maybe the integrators data engines and PI Vision. The ability to dynamically create new system nodes as needed based on system usage.

The limitation of 100,000 streams for the data warehouse integrator is a perfect example. To stream out 3 million pi points, we would need at least 30 different windows hosts. With docker containers, we could run multiple integrators on a few number of larger hosts.
