As someone with an extremely large Audit Trail, I would like the ability to export this data to a file as the viewer in PSE does not give me enough freedom to consume large quantities of audit data.
Not sure why this is marked as completed. Can't find any ways to bulk export Audit trail, nor does techsupport know of any ways to export, except for using PSE...
This was marked completed as you can now export via PI System Explorer beginning with the 2018 release. By your asking this question, it appears that you would like some specific capabilities that are not available today. Can you further describe what you would like to see?

The original question stated "as a user of an extremely large Audit trail". While you can query an audit trail in PSE and export, it does not sound feasible to export hundreds of millions of audit records using PSE. (admitting i did not try that...)
I have two use cases:
1) Due to cleanup not working, Audit trail has grown too large and needs to be pruned. However due to client requirements Audit trail needs to be retained and cannot be deleted. Therefore audit trail needs to be exported in bulk for offline storage. Current audit Trail is about 100Gb in size.
2) Due to a high transaction load, audit trail is not very sustainable on the Production environment for a long term, while customer has a 10y retention requirement. We want to archive audit trail to a non-production environment for all data older than e.g. 6 months.
