According to this, VSTO Runtime is included with PI AF Client for the sake of PI Builder. The installation of VSTO Runtime also causes the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable to be installed as well. However, according to this, the Visual C++ 2010 Redistributables are no longer supported, and according to this, the version of VSTO Runtime that was used in PI AF Client 2023 is 2 versions behind the current version.
If upgrading to the latest version of VSTO Runtime fixes the issue of unsupported Visual C++ Redistributables being installed, then please do that. If even the latest version of VSTO Runtime requires unsupported Visual C++ Redistributables or other unsupported programs to be installed, then please use an alternative to VSTO Runtime that does not have such an issue. Since PI AF Client is used on both the client end and the server end, the problem of unsupported junk being installed is quite pervasive.
Thank you for this comment. We have rectified the issue of shipping out of date VSTO versions and created workflows to avoid this in the future. We will keep shipping this for the benefit of PI Builder, so I have to decline the idea, but I appreciate you reaching out with your comments.
