A few limitations make difficult to architect AIM with PI 2023:
No support for NLB
No support for failover cluster
No support for multiple independent AIM instances
As of today, AIM is a single point of failure and so HA is required to prevent global shutdowns.
Support for redundancy for AVEVA AIM System Management Server has been delivered as part of the release of AVEVA PI Server 2024 R2 and Platform Common Services (PCS) 8.2.1 for the PI System, shipped in December 2025.
For more information on AVEVA PI Server 2024 R2, please refer to the Release Notes here.
I was shocked to learn that AVEVA Identity Manager (AIM) is a single point of failure. While it is good to hear that be fixed in the future, shame on AVEVA for not implementing such a critical feature from the first release!
Can AVEVA provide a realistic release date? This idea is 10 months old and we have ZERO information other than "In development".
Any foreseen release date on this?
